🧪 Step-by-Step Instructions for Using Melanotan 1 (MT1)

 

Important: MT1 is a research peptide not approved for human use outside clinical trials. Always follow local laws and safety guidelines.

 

1. Gather Your Supplies

You’ll need:

• MT1 peptide (glass vial containing 10mg of peptide powder)

• Bacteriostatic or saline water, for reconstitution (this is sterile and safe to be used for injections. Once opened, any unused water must be discarded, do not keep any open water for later use)

• Alcohol swabs (these are used to wipe the skin of the injection site and the vial's rubber top before use)

• Sterile syringe with fixed needle (most people use a 1ml/100IU (international units) syringe with a fixed, 30g needle - these are very fine and cause minimal discomfort)

Ensure you are working on a clean, flat surface and that you have washed your hands with warm, soapy water and have thoroughly dried your hands with a clean, dry towel.

2. Preparing Melanotan for Injection

Melanotan is sold and shipped as a dry powder in a sterile, vacuum sealed glass vial. Melanotan can not be sold pre-mixed as it would become expired if not properly refrigerated between mixing and dosing.

• Clean the area of the bacteriostatic/saline vial that you will pierce with the needle as well as the rubber seal of the Melanotan vial (remove the plastic cap) with an alcohol swab.

• Draw your required dose of bacteriostatic or saline water slowly into your syringe.

• Slowly inject water into the Melanotan vial, letting it run down the side to avoid damaging the peptide. (ensure there are no air bubbles in the syringe)

• Gently swirl (don’t shake) until fully dissolved.

 

3. Calculate Your Dosage

• MT1 dosing varies by research protocol. A common starting dose is 7.5 units per day, gradually increasing upto 10 units depending on response.

  • Note: this is based on a reconsitution of 300 saline units:10mg peptide​

• Use a dosage calculator (linked on our main "how to" page or chart to determine how much volume (in mL or IU) corresponds to your desired dose.

It is important to note that MT1 is a slower process than MT2 and may take longer to show results and/or may require different dosage to MT2.

​

There is no standard dose that will fit everyone.

Below is a dosing example not backed up by proven science. This is only an example, you should do your own research and experiment to see what doses are best for you.

• Loading phase: If its your first time using melanotan then start off with a lower dose for the first couple days and build up to 330mcg (10 units) to avoid any unwanted side effects.

• During the loading phase you should inject every day until the desired skin tone is achieved. While doing injections every day you should be getting some UV ray exposure at least every other day.

• Melanotan is active in the body for 36h after injection, for the best possible results you should get some UV rays within this time.

• Days 6-10 of the loading phase are the most important where you should be getting the most sun.

• Maintenance - 10 units (1mg) once or twice a week.

• Timing - most people when just starting to use melanotan will experience mild nausea and facial flushing right after the injection, for this reason it is advisable to take the injections just before going to bed so you sleep it off.

4. Administer the Dose

• MT1 is typically administered via subcutaneous injection (under the skin).

• Ensure there are no air bubbles in the syringe when administering your dose, air bubbles can cause an inaccurate dose reading and can lead to complications. Clear air bubbles by tipping the filled syringe upside down (needle at top) and slowly pushing the syringe in until a tiny drip comes out of the needle.

• Clean the injection site (abdomen or thigh - a fatty area) with an alcohol swab.

• Pinch the skin, insert the needle at a 45-degree angle, and inject slowly.

• Dispose of the syringe safely.

Once established, Melanotan use should not exceed 2 days per week for 8 weeks on, followed by an 8 week break.

​

Storage and Safety

• Store reconstituted MT1 in the fridge (2–8°C).

• Use within 30 days of mixing.

• Keep all materials sterile and dispose of sharps properly.

• Do not pre-make syringes.

• Do not re-use syringes.
